Open Access — Funded by ROM Physiotherapy Denpasar
Kinesiology and Physiotherapy Comprehensive Journal (KPCJ) is a fully open access journal. The operational costs of peer review, copyediting, typesetting, DOI registration, and digital archiving are primarily supported by ROM Physiotherapy Denpasar. This enables KPCJ to offer free or heavily subsidized publication to most authors, while maintaining rigorous academic standards without financial barriers to publishing.

Manuscript Submission
There is absolutely no charge to submit a manuscript for consideration. All authors — domestic or international, funded or unfunded — may submit without incurring any cost.

Authors affiliated with institutions outside Indonesia — or whose corresponding author address is outside Indonesia — are fully exempt from all publication fees as part of KPCJ's global outreach initiative.

APC Waiver Granted
Indonesian authors who meet both eligibility criteria below receive a full APC waiver and publish at no cost. A supporting letter from a department head, dean, or rector is required.

Article Processing Charge
Indonesian authors who do not qualify for a waiver — those who have institutional funding or grants, or do not meet the H-Index threshold — are required to pay an APC of Rp250,000 upon acceptance.
03 — APC Waiver Eligibility Criteria (Indonesian Authors)
To qualify for a full APC waiver, an Indonesian corresponding author must simultaneously meet both of the following criteria at the time of submission:
Criterion 1
No Institutional Funding or Grant
The research was conducted without financial support from any institution, government body, organization, or university — including research grants, faculty grants, program funding, or national research schemes (e.g., DIPA, PDUPT, Hibah Dikti, LPDP, BRIN).
Required Proof:
A letter on official institutional letterhead, signed by the Head of Department, Dean, or Rector, stating that the author received no grant or institutional funding for this research. The letter must be dated within 6 months of the submission date.
Criterion 2
High H-Index & Citation Record
The corresponding author must demonstrate a strong academic publication record as evidenced by a notable H-Index and citation count on a recognized scholarly database. This criterion recognizes established researchers who contribute to the scholarly community without institutional financial backing.
Accepted Evidence (any one):
Important: Both criteria must be satisfied simultaneously. An author with no funding but a low publication record, or an author with a high H-Index but who received a research grant, will not qualify for the waiver and will be required to pay the APC of Rp250,000 upon acceptance.
04 — Waiver Application Process
Waiver requests are reviewed by the editorial team alongside the peer review process. Approval or denial is communicated at the time of acceptance. Waiver decisions are final.
Submit Manuscript via OJS
Log in to the KPCJ submission portal at kpcj.org and begin a new submission. There is no fee at this stage.

During the OJS submission wizard, at the Supplementary Files step, upload the following documents:
Editorial Review of Waiver Request
The editorial team reviews the waiver documents in parallel with the peer review process. No additional delay is introduced. The waiver decision does not influence the peer review outcome.
Decision Communicated at Acceptance
When the manuscript is accepted, the editorial team will notify the corresponding author of both the acceptance and the waiver outcome. If the waiver is approved, no payment is required. If the waiver is denied, payment instructions for the Rp250,000 APC will be provided — publishing proceeds after payment confirmation.
05 — Payment Information
When to Pay
The APC is invoiced only after the manuscript has been formally accepted following peer review. No payment is requested or expected during submission, peer review, or revision stages. Manuscripts will not be rejected or penalized for initiating a waiver request.
Payment Method
Payment instructions — including bank transfer details or other accepted payment methods — will be sent to the corresponding author's registered email address at the time of acceptance notification. Please complete payment within 14 calendar days of receipt of the invoice to avoid delays in publication.
Receipt & Confirmation
After payment is confirmed, a receipt will be issued and the article will be scheduled for final production and online publication. The APC covers all production costs — typesetting, DOI registration, open access hosting, and digital archiving.
No Hidden Charges
KPCJ does not charge for color figures, supplementary data, page limits within standard bounds, or open access surcharges beyond the stated APC. What you see is what you pay. The APC amount is reviewed annually and any changes are announced at least 90 days in advance.
06 — Transparency & Compliance
KPCJ's APC policy complies with international transparency standards for scholarly publishing. In accordance with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, WAME — 4th Edition, 2022), the following commitments are maintained:
APC amount and waiver policy are clearly stated on the journal website prior to submission
Waiver decisions are made by the editorial team and do not influence peer review outcomes
Submission fees are never charged — authors are not charged if their manuscript is rejected
Payment is requested only after acceptance — APC does not guarantee publication
APC changes are announced at least 90 days before they take effect
No color charges, supplementary file fees, or hidden surcharges beyond the stated APC
